For example, Pre-Design may deal with issues found in General Structures or Construction Documents and Services. Or, a General Structures topic may require some knowledge found in the Building Design/Materials and Methods division, etc. Current Site Planning material is found in Pre-Design and throughout the entire set.  In years past Site Planning was its own division, then removed, and now re-introduced in 4.0. Archiflash has always retained site issues throughout the set.

PRACTICE VIGNETTES 3.1 & 4.0

While reading about the vignettes is very important, it's not enough. Practicing with NCARB's software is paramount. Thesevignettes have been specifically designed to test what you can expect on the actual exam. Professor Dorf's Practice Vignettes are to be solved using NCARB's free downloadable practice software for ARE 3.1, or 4.0. Use NCARB's tools and base drawings and solve our Practice Problems. We have sufficiently modified NCARB's problems. This requires you to produce an entirely new solution. Each vignette contains Professor Dorf's sample passing solution so you can compare your solutions to his. These Practice Vignettes are presented in .pdf format.

PROFESSOR DORF EXPLAINS HOW TO USE THE PRACTICE VIGNETTES

PAPER & PENCIL PRACTICE VIGNETTES 3.1 & 4.0

For additional practice solving each vignette, we have compiled a selection of Professor Dorf's practice vignettes and solutions. Working with these problems will help you strengthen your ability to read and analyze the program, improve your understanding of passing and failing solutions and more. Available for 3.1 and 4.0, each contains two practice problems and a sample solution for each vignette on the ARE. These provide practice for both 3.1 and 4.0, use both versions for extra practice. The Paper and Pencil Practice Vignettes are presented in .pdf format.

Grading of Practice Vignettes is now available. Our team of graders will review your solutions and provide you with feedback on each program requirement. Turnaround time is 3 - 7 days.
